"Raymond loved life and made everything he did fun for anyone involved in what he was doing. I was lucky enough to share many things with Raymond and polo was our favorite thing to do. I have no doubt that if he wanted to, he could have become a 10 goal player."
     - Owen Rinehart

RBVNS scholarship decisions are based on academic qualifications, demonstration of an interest in polo or an ability to play polo, and a selfless character that is conducive to team play, such as doing more than average around the barn.

In order to receive funding, all students must maintain a minimum GPA average of 2.0. In addition, students are expected to conduct themselves on and off the field in a manner that reflects positively on the University of Virginia and the polo program.

Application Deadlines:
  • Applications for the upcoming academic year are due February 15.
  • Interviews with applicants will be scheduled for the end of March.
  • The Vere Nicoll Board will notify students no later than May 1.
